The city of Enumclaw is looking for two residents to fill seats on its Arts Commission.
A seven-member body at full strength, the Arts Commission’s mission is to “…enrich the plateau area by coordinating and supporting literary, visual and performing artists and events, both amateur and professional,” reads a city webpage.
The language is broad on purpose, as the types of projects the Arts Commission can get involved with are myriad.
“Notable past projects are Elk on the Trail, juried art shows, [and] concerts in the park,” Alina Hibbs, the city’s cultural programs and events coordinator, wrote in an email interview. “We are working on getting a youth center mural and trying to revamp the skatepark with murals on the concrete structures (still in the works), [and] management of our current city inventory.”
Commission members are appointed to three-year terms by the mayor of Enumclaw and confirmed by the city council; currently serving on the commission are Benji Pierson, Janet Berthon, Haley Ashland, Paul Rogers, and Jody Olson.
Beyond attending commission meetings (which are the first Wednesday of every month at city hall at 4 p.m.), the only other requirement is that you live within city limits.
To apply, head to cityofenumclaw.net/DocumentCaenter/View/344/Boards-and-Commissions-Application-PDF and mail the filled-out form to Jessica Rose, Deputy City Clerk, City of Enumclaw, 1339 Griffin Avenue, Enumclaw, WA, 98022.
