Feb. 28

– What started as a simple call at 10:30 a.m. turned into much more. Police were dispatched to the 32600 block of Newcastle Drive after hearing of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers made contact and determined the driver had a suspended license so an arrest was made and the vehicle was impounded. The case took a turn when further investigation led to the recovery of stolen property and stolen mail; additional charges against the driver were pending.

Feb. 27

– Police responded to an afternoon call about a domestic dispute that had turned physical at a 225th Avenue Southeast location. Officers arrived, made contact with one of the involved parties and determined the incident had been verbal only. Police provided a domestic violence resource guide.

– Police were dispatched to confirm a warrant for obstructing law enforcement. Once confirmation was made, the suspect was booked into the SCORE jail in Des Moines.

Feb. 26

– A resident of Newcastle Drive asked for a police response regarding the violation of a no-contact order between neighbors. Officers investigated and learned the petitioner’s court order had expired. The petitioner was referred to the court system so a new order could be obtained.

Feb. 25

– A report was received regarding multiple juveniles skateboarding on school property. After police made contact the youngsters willingly left the scene.

– A suspect was taken into custody after officers conducted an investigation into recovered stolen mail.

Feb. 24

– Police took an emailed complaint about damage done to the pay station at the boat launch in the 22400 block of Southeast 296th Street. An unknown suspect spray painted the machine with blue paint.

– An afternoon phone call was taken from someone living outside the city limits regarding the theft of packages from a residential porch. The caller believed the theft could be related to recent thefts that had occurred in the city, according to online reports. The caller was referred to the King County Sheriff’s Office to make the theft report.

– City police were asked to help with a rape investigation being conducted by authorities in North Bend.

– A call was received regarding a home on 232 nd Avenue Southeast; police were told the front door was open but the residents were away on vacation. Officers found no sign of forced entry and, once inside, found nothing out of place. The home was secured and police departed.

– At 12:35 a.m. police were alerted to a theft of packages in progress near the 32600 block of Maple Avenue. Suspects were located and arrested for third-degree theft. Their vehicle was seized due to the potential of other stolen property being inside. The vehicle also was taken as evidence due to he presence of a firearm in the possession of a convicted felon.

Feb. 23

– An officer responded to a Lawson Street address after taking a call about a 10-year-old girl in California who had hacked into a local school’s computer system. The caller reported that her son’s personal information had been obtained. She was advised to contact the school.

– A missing-person report, filed by the mother, was issued regarding an 18-year-old female. Police contacted the daughter who advised she was fine but didn’t want to return home.

Feb. 22

– Police responded to a Third Avenue location where they were asked to stand by as an individual removed personal property from a vehicle that had been impounded.

– When workers arrived at a construction site they found a small amount of electrical wire had been cut from inside the unfinished apartment units. Also, several walls had been damaged. Pending the development of suspect information the case was placed on inactive status.
