The Enumclaw High School girls’ tennis team used spring break to full advantage, picking up a pair of South Puget Sound League 2A victories.
The Hornet squad, under the guidance of coach Rick Carel, opened the vacation week with a 4-1 win over Eatonville, then added a 3-2 victory over Franklin Pierce two days later.
Enumclaw played tough in singles, starting with Macy Furtwangler in the No. 1 spot. She defeated Eatonville’s Erin Mitchell 6-0, 6-0, then beat the Cardinals’ Lexie Sams 6-0, 6-1. In the No. 2 singles role, Enumclaw’s Keana Beals opened with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Eatonville’s Cassidy Foster before blanking FP’s Raine McPhail 6-0, 6-0.
The team victory over Eatonville also included a 6-1, 6-1 win by Bailey Bolton and Amelia Poulin in the No. 2 doubles pairing and was polished off by a 6-0, 6-1 win by Ashley Dickerson and Moriah Rogel in No. 3 doubles.
Enumclaw’s decision over Franklin Pierce was clinched with a win in No. 3 doubles, when the Dickerson/Rogel duo posted a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 victory.
