Downtown Enumclaw will be hopping Friday and Saturday as the Street Fair makes its return.
Sponsored by the local Rotary Club, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both July 23 and 24. The Street Fair has become a summertime downtown tradition but was locked out in 2020 (like most everything else) due to the pandemic.
But now it’s back with a full slate of vendors, entertainment for young and old alike, food and drink and more.
Of course, the two days of fun means drivers will have to navigate around the heart of downtown. Griffin Avenue will remain open but Cole Street will be off-limits for several blocks on either side of Griffin. Some side streets will be closed to vehicles as well.
The biggest element of Street Fair is the long list of participating merchants. Some are downtown merchants who expand into the street while other, smaller operations set up shop just for the two days. The varied vendor list includes everything from furniture and jewelry to hand-crafted items to HVAC experts, from orthodontists to orthopedics. There’s even a boxer rescue group making an appearance.
But the two days aren’t just about buying and selling: there will be inflatables for the kids, a beer and wine garden for the 21-and-older set and a food court for everyone.
Live music is planned for both days, with bands sharing two stages. The main stage will be at the corner of Cole Street and Stevenson Avenue and a second stage will be found on the other side of Cole between Myrtle and Marshall avenues.
Among the performers will be The Ante Up Band (classic rock, country, pop, R&B and everything in between); The EveryLeaf Band (country/classic rock); Calamity Jane, the Murph Tones, Favorite Mistake and more.
An auto display – a new Street Fair event – will be set up on Marshall Avenue. The show, sponsored by Thunder Dome Car Museum, runs from 4 to 7 p.m. each day.
Also as part of Street Fair is a Saturday morning 5K run/walk. Organizers will be accepting registration through the morning of the event (at 7:30). Online registration ends at 10 tonight (Wednesday).
With a 9 a.m. start time, the event follows a fast and flat course, beginning at ending at the intersection of Railroad and Myrtle, by the public library.
