The Green River Eagles #1490 will host a community garage sale Aug. 12 through 15 to raise money to outfit the Black Diamond Eagles Hall as an emergency disaster center.

The four day sale will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Black Diamond Gymnasium, located at 25511 Lawson St., according to the Eagles. Antiques, furniture, bicycles, tools and more will be up for sale.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization that aims to aid in the common good. The local branch is raising money to buy a commercial air conditioning system and to install a generator at the Black Diamond Eagles Hall so it can serve as a shelter during emergencies, extreme weather events and other disasters, Eagles Worthy Chaplain Pamela Smith said.

Last year, the community garage sale raised $30,000 for the Black Diamond Community Center, Smith said. They’re hoping to beat that number this year.
