Three-time Washington champion and Grade 2 stakes winner Atta Boy Roy’s first foal was born on February 8, 2014, at Terry and Mary Lou Griffin’s Griffin Place in Buckley. The colt, which is out of the $127,121 stakes-winning Silver Ghost mare Silver Screen Girl, was bred by the Griffins and Ken and Marleen Alhadeff’s Elttaes Stable.

Silver Screen Girl has produced four winners from her first five foals of racing age, including $50,000-plus earners Silver Lake Max and Aaron the Baron.

Ken Mile’s stakes-placed Pentelicus mare Time for Magic dropped Atta Boy Roy’s second foal on February 11. The filly, who was also born at Griffin Place, is a half-sister to $98,700 stakes-placed Slim Pickins and winner Athina Lee.

Atta Boy Roy, who entered stud at Rick and Debbie Pabst’s Blue Ribbon Farm last spring, was among the nation’s top sprinters in 2009 and 2010. Among his 14 wins and nine seconds and thirds were 11 stakes placements, led by his victories in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G2), Remington Park Sprint Cup Stakes, Governor’s Handicap and Shot of Gold Stakes. A half-brother to Washington horse of the year and Longacres Mile (G3) winner The Great Face, Atta Boy Roy earned $602,276 over his seven-year career.
