It’s hard not to set expectations high when both the Enumclaw High girls and boys golf teams finished among the Class 3A state’s best and return South Puget Sound League 3A Players of the Year.
The boys return half of this spring’s third-place state team – Tyler Salsbury and Tim Livermore.
Salsbury, a junior, was second in the state and SPSL 3A Player of the Year. Livermore, a senior, made the second-day state tournament cut, and leads a corps of six seniors returning to the program – Ryan McGrath, Kent Kindsvater, Kyle McCormick, Preston Keeter and Dylan Kleist.
Kindsvater, Kleist, McCormick and Colton McClusky, Chase Dolliver and David Smith are also returning lettermen.
In the past four years, the EHS girls program has finished second, first, third and fourth in the state. The Hornets also return half of last year’s fourth-place state team including SPSL 3A Player of the Year, senior Kelly Sweeney. Sweeney along with senior Janie Francis and sophomore Tiffany Wilkening return from that state trip.
The Hornets also return seniors Claire Hinman, Kaylin Podolak and Molly Roe.
Through the years, both Hornet teams have racked up league and district titles, this year the league changes. Although the Hornets remain in the SPSL 3A they will be joined by Bonney Lake, Lakes, Peninsula, Auburn Mountainview and former Class 4A member Decatur.
