Editor’s note: Renaissance Real Estate realtors Carlie Hendrickson and Payton Grace’s new column series, “Simply At Home”, is part of the Courier-Herald’s ongoing community columnist initiative. Their columns will be published the third edition of every month.
Known as the gateway to Mt. Rainier and only a mere 5.1 square miles, Enumclaw is a town packed with an amazing community, interesting people, wide open spaces and rich history. Our real estate is unique, special, and one of a kind. Packed with historical estates, mountain views, and beautiful agriculture, it is no surprise that this little town is one of the PNW’s best kept secrets! It’s one of the many reasons why we are so passionate about our jobs as real estate brokers here on the Plateau.
We are close friends and business partners, working with a local real estate team in Enumclaw. We are excited to have this opportunity and platform to discuss what we are most passionate about – real estate! We plan to provide our readers with seasonal home maintenance recommendations, tips and tricks to organize and declutter, ways to update your home without breaking the bank, home decor trends, and so much more. Homeownership can be fun and exciting if you let it be and we understand that it can be overwhelming at times. We hope to shed some light and joy around the topic of real estate and be sure to keep up with our column as we cover a variety of fun topics.
A little bit about us:
Carlie Hendrickson: I was born and raised in Enumclaw and graduated from Enumclaw High. In 2018, I graduated with a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship while also balancing a full time job as an administrator for my real estate brokerage. While finishing my bachelors in applied science and working full time, I obtained my real estate license and have never looked back. I have continued to build my roots here in Enumclaw with my husband, Chad. We own two houses in Enumclaw that are both over 100 years old and have done extensive work on each of them. It’s been so fun uncovering all history in our old homes. We’ve even found copies of the Courier-Herald used as insulation in our crawl space, some dating back to 1947. I also serve on the Planning Commision with the City of Enumclaw. We are an independent commission made up of local citizens that help advise our local governmental departments and officials on matters related to the community’s development. As a proud member of this community, it is important to me to help protect and keep Enumclaw the town we all know and love.
Payton Tabert: I purchased my first home in Enumclaw with my (now) husband a few years ago shortly after graduating from Washington State University (go Cougs!). Having roots here in the pacific northwest and wanting that “small town feel” with a great sense of community, my husband and I knew this would be the perfect place to start our life together. While settling into my new home I discovered a new found love for home decor, interior design and interests surrounding the real estate market. Just a couple short years later I made the transition from a career in law enforcement communications to a career I never thought possible — real estate. I made several great connections while working in the law enforcement community and understand the importance of being a good communicator which helps in my current career. I have always had a passion for helping people. Now, I get to help people find their dream home and be a resource for interior design. I love being involved in the same community that I get to call home and I am excited to continue to grow here.
We are heavily involved in the different amenities and activities that Enumclaw has to offer and always strive to be an active part of this community. You will find our real estate team loyally participating in the Fourth of July Parades, Christmas Parades, beer and wine walks, and street fairs every year. Carlie and Payton also love spending their free time working out at The Claw Crossfit, hiking Mt. Peak, walking the O’Grady trails with their doggos, and enjoying their summer week nights at the Enumclaw golf course.
We care about our community deeply and strive to build long lasting relationships with our neighbors here in Enumclaw. We pride ourselves in providing the highest level of education to our clients and we want to expand that to our entire community while creating genuine connections. Our goal is to be able to provide our services via education and fun quick tips and tricks regarding the world of real estate and home ownership. We continue to choose Enumclaw as our home base because of the amazing people, thriving businesses and community we get to be a part of. Creating any positive impact in this community, whether that is big or small, would be a win in our book.
We hope to provide our readers with creative content that is entertaining while being both useful and practical. Whether our readers are experienced home owners, first time buyers, or just dipping their toes into the real estate market, this column is for everyone. We understand that real estate is usually the biggest investment an individual will make. We are here to make the job of homeownership less stressful and more enjoyable so that you can easily keep your asset in tip top shape. We look forward to helping you create a space that is an extension of yourself and reflects your own unique personality. This is when we believe you can truly begin to call your house a home.
