BLOOD DRIVE: Bloodworks Northwest is organizing three pop-up blood donor center in Black Diamond. The first two are on Aug. 29 and 30 at St. Barbaras Catholic Church on 6th Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the second is Sept. 6 in the City Council/Police Department building on Lawson Street. With social distancing protocols in place, the donor center will not be taking any walk-in appointments, and all donors will be required to wear a mask. FOOTHILLS TRAIL UPDATE: King County continues to take steps to construct a pedestrian bridge over the White River on the Foothills Trail. Ceccanti Inc. was chosen to build the bridge on Aug. 11; the firm is currently preparing a materials proposition for the county council to review, and a formal construction schedule is being developed. Another update is expected in a few weeks.
THE KETTLE CLOSES: An Enumclaw staple, The Kettle, has closed its doors. The closure was announced earlier this month, with an advertised final day of Aug. 28. However, the establishment closed early on Aug. 18.
