Editor’s note: This letter is in response to the letter, “Wake up to the American Taliban”, published Nov. 9.
A short memory letter writer, Larry Benson, sees the Republicans as usurping our Republic and enslaving the masses. Citing the Capitol attack causing $1 million damage as a source, he seems to have forgotten the previous attacks on the U.S. citizenry, and businesses in various states. Nationally over $2 billion-plus of damage to buildings, and laws, resulted from Antifa, BLM, etc., rioters running amok. When some were arrested, Kamala Harris urged progressives to bail out the miscreants so they could continue their barbarism.
The Jan. 6 investigation is expected to exceed $30 million. Who’s trying to impose their wills? The hatred of Trump is paramount to the committee.
Benson names Representatives Marjorie Green and Lauren Boebert as being of questionable character. Yet, never mentions ”The Squad” and their Socialist, anti-Semitic rants — are these questionable? Let’s include forementioned Kamala Harris as well. Perhaps his fear of outspoken, conservative, women leaders fuels misogynist leanings.
The ad hominem attack on Hershel Walker as not being able to chew gum and walk borders on racism. Has the writer not witnessed any Biden press conferences? The Gaffer-in-Chief humiliates himself and our country on a weekly basis. Plus, the recently elected Sen. John Fetterman is no Churchill when behind a podium.
The assertion that the Republicans support the KKK is bogus. However, deceased former Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd organized a KKK unit in the 1940s. He is quoted as saying, “…I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side…” and other less printable statements. Also, among his achievements was his 14-hour filibuster of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Byrd, the longest serving senator, was lionized at his funeral. Had he been a Republican, would positive kudos be in order — I think not.
Accusatory statements comparing political factions to the Taliban may fit the progressive talking points, but credibility wanes with careful introspective examination.
