Man killed in hit and run on SR 164; suspect identified | UPDATE

Buckley resident Clifford Camanoprice was struct by a black SUV Saturday morning.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this article identified the suspect involved in the hit and run. They have not been arrested or charged, so their name has been removed from the article. Additionally, the time of the incident was incorrectly reported; it occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Other information has been added.

A man was killed walking along SR 164 on Saturday, and a suspect has been identified.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Buckley resident Clifford Camanoprice, 22, was walking westbound in the highway between 212th Avenue and 244th Avenue when a black SUV, travelling eastbound, hit him between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. and did not stop.

An initial press release said pieces left behind at the scene pointed to the vehicle being a 2014 to 2020 black Acura MDX with silver trim, and had damage to the front driver’s headlight and would be missing part of the front driver’s bumper, the driver’s side mirror, and driver’s side door handle. WSP was hoping the information would be helpful to identify the driver.

The department didn’t have to wait long. Soon after the hit and run, the vehicle crashed into an unoccupied vehicle inside Enumclaw’s city limits around 2 a.m., and the driver was arrested for DUI.

The driver posted bail that afternoon and was released, and charges for DUI were forwarded to the Enumclaw Municipal Court.

The WSP announced the suspect in the hit and run on April 2 around 1:53 p.m., but they have not yet been arrested for this incident, or charges filed. The Courier-Herald doesn’t typically publish the names of suspects until charges are officially filed.

Potential charges include vehicular homicide, felony hit and run, and DUI, as drugs or alcohol are suspected to have been involved, a WSP report reads.

This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be published once it is made available.

Anyone with additional information can email Detective Ford at Brody at Ford@wsp.wa.gov.
