Helene Rose (Montcalm) Terry passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023. She was born on November 24, 1935 in Seattle, Washington to Marie and Robert (Bob) Montcalm. She was one of four siblings: Catherine Ann, Bob and Cecilia. Helene graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic High School in 1953. She met her future husband Irv while attending Seattle University. They were married February 8, 1958.

She and Irv raised five children; Irv, Lawrence, David, Frances and Paul. When Irv decided to attend medical school Helene dedicated herself to raising her young children single handedly. They started their married life in Seattle and then moved to Enumclaw, Washington in 1971 where Irv continued to practice medicine. Helene made her home in Enumclaw for the rest of her life.

Helene’s greatest joy in life was raising her family and she was always there for them offering encouragement. Her faith was central to her life. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and used her strong faith to propel her through life’s many challenges. She was passionate about her travels to Hawaii and she and Irv made many trips to the islands over the years. Helene loved to hike the mountains. The Summerland trail at Mount Rainier was her favorite. She enjoyed starting her day in front of the wood stove at home reading the newspaper and having coffee.

Helene is survived by her children Irv, Lawrence, Frances and Paul, six grandchildren and her sister Cecelia and brother Bob.
