The King County Wastemobile is back out on the road for the 2023 season to make it easy for people to safely get rid of household hazardous waste closer to home.

From late February to October, the Wastemobile travels to rural and suburban cities in King County. Residents and small businesses can safely drop off their household hazardous waste at no cost. This year, the Wastemobile will make 21 stops in 12 areas across the county including Federal Way, Vashon, and Snoqualmie.

The Wastemobile will be visiting the Enumclaw Expo Center on June 2 – 4 from 10 a.m;. to 5 p.m.

The Wastemobile takes items such as batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, propane and butane tanks, automotive fluids and oils, pesticides, and much more. A full list of accepted items and quantity limits for residents and eligible businesses is online at kingcountyhazwastewa.gov.

Note that there is a limit of 50 gallons per residential customer per day, and no containers larger than five gallons. For larger quantities or unusual waste, call the Wastemobile at 206-296-4692.

Wastemobile visitors can also check out a reusable household products cart, where they can grab other donated automotive, cleaning, and home improvement products that are still in good condition. There is no cost to take items, but a release form is required.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

The list of items that can be disposed at the Wastemobile is extensive.

However, there are multiple items that the Watemobile will not take off our hands. This includes:

■ Asbestos

■ Biomedical waste

■ Commercial compressed gas cylinders

■ Contaminated soil

■ Cooking oil, fats, grease

■ Electronics

■ Empty containers

■ Explosives

■ Fireworks

■ Generators

■ Halogen light bulbs

■ Helium tanks

■ Medicine

■ Oily water

■ Paint – latex, water-based, or acrylic

■ Sharps, needles, and syringes

■ Smoke detectors

■ Tires

■ Toner cartridges

■ Unknown or unlabeled waste
