The spring sports teams have concluded league play, or are about to wrap up South Puget Sound League 2A action, and postseason time has arrived.
Here’s a quick look at where things stand for the Plateau teams from Enumclaw and White River high schools.
BASEBALL
Enumclaw High was the class of the SPSL 2A, winning the league title with a record of 15-1 (18-2 overall). White River nabbed second-place honors with a record of 12-2 (14-4 overall).
Both squads were rewarded with home games to open the postseason calendar, playing yesterday (May 9). Enumclaw hosted Olympic High while White River took on the Port Angeles Roughriders. Winners of the Tuesday games will next take the field Saturday at Central Kitsap High School in the district semifinals; losers of the Tuesday games are to play again today (Wednesday) in loser-out contests.
From district play, the top five teams will advance to the Class 2A state tournament.

BOYS’ SOCCER
White River compiled a league mark of 10-3-3 to secure second place in the SPSL 2A. Enumclaw finished seventh in the nine-team league with a record of 5-11.
Both teams opened District 2/3 play Tuesday night. White River hosted Lindbergh High while Enumclaw was on the road against Bremerton. If White River was victorious the team will play again Thursday in the district semifinals; a loss would send White River into a loser-out contest on Thursday.
With a lower seed, Enumclaw began with a loser-out contest. A victory would call for a Thursday game, another of the loser-out variety and again on the road.
In the end, the top five teams from district play will advance to the Class 2A state tournament. To view the district soccer bracket visit: www.wpanetwork.com/wiaa/brackets/tournament.php?act=view&tournament_id=4031.
TRACK AND FIELD
The boys’ and girls’ squads from both Enumclaw and White River begin the process of whittling the field this Friday (May 12) with the SPSL 2A meet. The league gathering will be hosted by White River.
The league’s top performers will advance to the May 19-20 West Central District meet at Renton High. Finally, the best of the best will gather May 25-27 for the Class 2A/3A/4A state championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
The Enumclaw High squad finished with a league record of 6-0 (12-1 overall) and will begin postseason action at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 13. It will be a home game, played at the Enumclaw Expo Center.
Enumclaw’s opponent had not been determined at press time.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Postseason play will really heat up when singles entries and doubles teams take part in the Class 2A bi-district tournament, set for May 19-20 at the Kitsap Tennis Club.
From there, top performers will advance to the May 26-27 Class 2A state tournament, set for the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
FASTPITCH
Postseason play isn’t in the picture – not yet, anyway – for the Plateau clubs. The simple reason is that the SPSL 2A calendar will not be concluded for another week.
Through games of last week, Enumclaw sat at No. 2 in the league standings with a record of 11-2. White River was tied for third place with a record of 9-4.
EHS notched an important victory on May 2 with an extra-innings, 6-5 victory over league-leading (and previously undefeated) Orting High. In the bottom of the ninth, Dakota Rist smacked a triple, sending the winning run across the plate.
The SPSL 2A season wraps up May 16 and one of the featured games will have White River facing Enumclaw under the lights at the Boise Creek Sixplex.
Teams will then focus on the May 19-20 District 2/3 tournament at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey. From there, five teams will advance to the May 26-27 state tourney at Carlon Park in Selah.
