Mount Rainier’s Sunrise Road is ready for visitors.

On Tuesday, June 27, Mount Rainier National Parks Service announced via tweet that Sunrise Road would reopen on July 1; it was closed over the winter, as per usual.

Sunrise Road is a scenic drive that leads to the sunrise side of Mount Rainier. At Sunrise Point, there is a 360-degree view of Mount Rainier and a view of the cascades.

Sunrise Road is usually closed throughout the winter, from mid-October or before, depending on the first heavy snowfall. The road then reopens in late June or early July.

Due to Sunrise Road’s steep, narrow, and winding nature, the National Parks Service does not recommend that RVs and Vehicles with trailers longer than 25 feet drive any further than the white river Campground Intersection.

According to their tweet, the National Parks Service said checking their live Mount Rainier webcams is a great way to check road conditions.
