Elsa Marie Fisher

Elsa Marie Fisher died May 22, 2023, at the age of 89.

Elsa Marie Fisher was born to Karl and Myrtle Sonntag in Enumclaw, Washington on December 15, 1933. She passed away on May 22nd 2023 at 89.

She was the middle of three girls and is survived by her older sister Gertrude DeJong and younger sister Pauline Williams.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husbands Norman Berry in 1982, Stanley Westby in 1989, and Richard Fisher in 2003.

Elsa was a gregarious and outgoing person who loved life and loved people. One of her favorite activities was going for a hike in the mountains. She was a member of the Mountaineers club and enjoyed many a camping trip with her husbands and friends. Elsa drew many of her witty sayings from her love of creation. “People are like a field of wildflowers, all sorts of types and colors, but together they make a beautiful bouquet.” Even as she grew older, in her mind and heart she was always ready for that next big hiking trip.

At the center of Elsa’s life was her love for the Bible and her devotion to God. Elsa was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 5, 1944. She expressed her deep love for Jehovah and His Word through her heartfelt comments at congregation meetings, her regular participation in many forms of the public ministry, and boldly sharing her faith with everyone she met. Elsa loved to recount her many adventures such as attending large international conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses, traveling to remote areas like South Dakota and Alaska to share the Bible’s message with people, and in her later years catching the bus once a week to participate in a special Bible education activity on the streets of Seattle.

Elsa had strong faith, an assured expectation, that although she may sleep for a time in death, she will be raised to life again on a beautiful, peaceful, paradise earth, when tears of sorrow become tears of joy. Her family and friends await that day with firm hope that it will come.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 8th at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 24009 SE 436th St, Enumclaw, WA 98022.
