Steven Bradley Koplitz died Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at the age of 67, with his wife, Marla, and children by his side. He was born January 1st, 1956 to Donald and Bertha Koplitz in Seattle, WA. Steve attended school in South Bend, where he graduated from South Bend High School in 1974. Following high school graduation, Steve attended the University of Puget Sound on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1978 from Eastern Washington University where he played baseball. He was proud of his induction into the South Bend Wall of Fame for his high school basketball accomplishments.
After college graduation, Steve was employed by Boeing where he spent the entirety of his 35 year career, before retiring in 2014. In 1983, Steve married Marla Green, and they made their home in Enumclaw, WA where they raised their three children.
Steve spent many years coaching youth sports that his children were involved in. Steve was a hunting enthusiast, passionate about sports – especially Husky football – loved to dance, and made the most of every moment, always with a smile on his face.
Steve loved coaching and supporting his children in their academic and athletic endeavors. He spent the last four years being a fun and devoted Pop to his grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marla, his three children; Drew (Erika) Koplitz of Buckley, WA, Quin (Morgan) Koplitz of Enumclaw, WA, and Mara (J.T.) Rogan of Enumclaw, WA. Pop (Steve) is also survived by his three, soon-to-be four, grandchildren, his mother, Bertha, brother, Brent (Lynn) Koplitz, and sister, Monica Howard.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald Koplitz.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw, WA on Friday, August 4th at 1 pm. A reception will immediately follow at the Enumclaw Expo Center Field House (Pete’s Pool).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to your chosen youth sport organization or the South Bend School Foundation (P.O. Box 437, South Bend, WA 98586).
