Roger P. White, 87, passed away peacefully at home on December 29, 2023.
Roger was born September 16, 1936 in Oakdale, California to Ralph and Richeline White. He was the seventh of nine children. After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1956, he joined the US Navy and was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge.
While the ship was in port in Bremerton, Washington he was set up on a blind date and met the love of his life, Sydney Joyce Partin. Tey were married, May 12, 1957 in South Prairie.
After leaving the Navy, Roger and Joyce settled in Enumclaw, where they raised two children, Kelli and Troy.
Roger worked at Weyerhaeuser’s White River Mill for thirty years as a saw filer. After his retirement in 1998, he had more time to pursue his love for the outdoors. He and Joyce cruised to Alaska many times and also made the trip by car. In addition, they visited Hawaii, all of the Western states, and most of the Southern states. Some of their best times were spent
with their grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter Kelli (Rob Mellish) and son Troy (Melissa Gage); six grandchildren, Hillary (Chris Turman), Will (Roni Cothard), Killian, Evan (Melissa Ward), Damon, and Drew, and great granddaughter Wiley.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 21, 1pm at Enumclaw Church of the Nazarene, 2501 Warner Avenue. Please wear red.
