Peninsula High scored early as they left Sumner’s Sunset Chev Stadium with a 2-1 win over the Sumner Spartans in South Puget Sound League 3A action Friday.
Currently, Peninsula is third in the SPSL 3A behind first-place White River. Sumner is fifth and closes out the regular season with a Friday home game against rival Bonney Lake.
The Seahawks’ offensive was aggressive in the first half, using their speed for a 2-0 margin. Martin Schmuck cut the lead by one with an unassisted goal.
Jacob Pierce and Schmuck each scored a goal in the Spartans’ 2-0 SPSL 3A win over Lakes April 28.
Pierce scored an unassisted goal in the 38th minute of play. He also recorded the assist on Schmuck’s kick.
