Hop ‘til you drop at these local egg hunts

There’s something for everyone on March 30, plus Thomasson Family Farm’s Bunny Patch for the next two weeks.

Some like it relaxed. Others, chaotic. But whether you prefer racing to find those colorful Easter eggs or taking your time, the Plateau has something for you.

One event is happening right now in front of you — the Courier-Herald’s annual Easter Egg Hunt in the newspaper.

To participate, count up all the eggs in the March 20 and 27 editions (don’t add them up), fill out the ad slip, and turn it into the Courier-Herald office on Myrtle Avenue by March 28. You can also email your entry by contacting Margaret Webb at margaret.webb@courierherald.com.

Winners, who will be announced via phone or email by noon on March 29, will receive a $30 gift certificate from Olson’s Meat and Smokehouse.

EARLY GUN CLUB HUNT

While many egg hunts on the Plateau happen on March 30, the Black Diamond Gun Club is hosting its free Easter event on March 29. Gates open at 5 p.m. ,and the first hunt starts at 6 p.m.

The event is geared toward kids ages 10 and under.

There will also be a free hot dog dinner.

BUNNY FUN AT THOMASSON FAMILY FARM

Enumclaw’s Thomasson Family Farm has something for all ages this time of year.

However, the 21-plus flashlight egg hunt on March 23 and 29 is already sold out of tickets, so adults will want to buy them early next year if they want to join what’s sure to be a wild hunt.

But there’s still plenty of opportunities for young ones and families to enjoy the spring season during the daytime Bunny Patch, from March 20 to 24 and March 27 to 31. The farm will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Bunny Patch comes with all of Thomasson’s normal offerings, from the kids’ playground, the hay barn, and tractor train rides (and on the weekends, laser tag, the mega slide, and more) but the egg hunt is what sets this event apart.

Unlike other hunts, the Thomasson hunt is ongoing — as in, kids ages 3 to 12 can join anytime and go at their own pace to collect a dozen eggs. You can also hunt for more eggs for $5.

This is a BYOB event, so don’t arrive without your own basket.

There will also be professional photographers to snap some pics of you and your family with the Easter Bunny.

Online tickets are $10 on weekdays, and $12 on weekends; add $2 to tickets bought at the ticket booth. Kids under 2 are admitted free.

Visitors can also reserve a fire pit on the weekends for an additional $60.

ENUMCLAW’S BABBITT RABBITT

The city of Enumclaw is again hosting its Babbitt Rabbitt egg hunt at Boise Creek Park on March 30, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

The hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m.

Besides the rush for eggs, there will also be food and drink trucks, a story time hosted by The Dusty Shelf bookstore, Alpacas to pet (provided by Green Apple Alpacas), youths representing various local clubs, and the Easter Bunny.

This is a free event.

BUCKLEY’S DOWNTOWN SCRAMBLE AND HOUND HUNT

Most egg hunts seems to be restricted to one location — a park, or baseball field maybe.

But Buckley’s is all around downtown and its parks.

The free event, which is for youths ages 10 to 18, is on March 30 and starts at noon.

There will be more close to 300 eggs hidden from the Buckley Veterans Memorial to Wally’s Drive In, and on Main Street up to City Hall. Make sure to keep your eyes open for golden eggs.

There will also be other activities near the Buckley Youth Activity Center and a free lunch.

HOUND HUNT

Right before the youth egg hunt, bring your pooch to the Buckley Youth Activity Center lawn for their own egg hunt.

The hunt begins at 9 a.m., and there will be a canine costume contest at 9:30. There will also be opportunities to get a photo of your dog with the Easter Bunny.

Dogs that find golden eggs will be given prizes from various pet businesses on the Plateau.

TEN TRAILS CARNIVAL

The Black Diamond Ten Trails neighborhood is hosting an Easter Carnival on March 30, from noon to 4 p.m., at Civic Park.

While the neighborhood hosted an egg hunt last year, there will not be a hunt this year. Instead, the Easter Bunny will be handing out eggs — though there will be golden eggs that come with prizes.

There will also be a bunny petting zoo, face painting, carnival games, food trucks, and more.

This is a free event.
