Letter to the Editor: We should demand accountability from copper wire buyers, sellers

Reader Larry Benson has a solution to end copper wire thefts.

I just wrote Reagan Dunn regarding the theft of telephone wire and all of the problems it is causing with Century Link’s slower than molasses response to this ongoing problem.

My thoughts on a possible solution is to require recyclers to demand documentation of how these people acquired the wire they are attempting to sell, barring that, if they are found to be purchasing said wire, they should be prosecuted for receiving stolen property, just the same as pawn shops who purchase stolen goods. Just sayin’.
