Dean Alan Mahlen, 65 went to heaven on October 30, 2023. Loving husband, son, brother, and Uncle, and proceeded in death by father Russell Mahlen, brother-in-law, Lewis Mukai, nephew,
Jason Mukai and J.R. his beloved Dog. He was born April 9, 1958 in Enumclaw. Where he grew up and graduated there. At 16 he started working at Safeway and would walk to work every day. He continued working there all his life and retired from there on April 25, 2023.
He loved collecting antiques all his life. He started collecting inkwells when he was about nine years old. And when he was about 10, he used to pick berries and go door- to-door to selling the Courier Herald to earn money to buy his inkwells. As he got older he started collecting anything that was interesting from slot machines, old Coke machines, beer signs to the Hamms bear and his 66 Corvette that he bought when he was 21 and was restoring.
He loved going to the Portland Swap Meet, Car Shows and Hot August Nights in Reno. He was in many car clubs like Classical Glass Corvette Club and Red Line Roadsters. He is already greatly missed.
He is survived by wife, Kelly Rotroff, stepson Bret and Branden Homan, mother Kathleen, brother, Scott Mahlen (Dede), sisters, Cindy Mahlen, Cheryl Fogelberg (Will), nieces, Crystal Mukai and Shaylee Fogelberg, Nephews Jake Mukai, Colton Fogelberg, (Chelsey), Joey Mahlen (Shelly), Nathan Mahlen, great nephews, Ben Mukai, Henry Fogelberg, Russell Mahlen and great niece Hadie Fogelberg. a Celebration of Life will be at the Buckley Eagles on April 13 2024 at 2 o’clock.
