A pair of Enumclaw golfers competed in the 86th Washington State Men’s Amateur Championship, conducted by the Washington State Golf Association at Eagles Pride Golf Course at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Tyler Salsbury and Quin Koplitz were part of the 49-player field that completed the four-day tournament.

Salsbury, who graduated from Enumclaw High School last week, shot a consistent 297, winding up in a tie for 23rd. He opened with a 76 on Thursday, followed with 73 and 75 and wrapped up the tourney with a 73 on Sunday.

Koplitz opened with a 79 but knocked off eight strokes Friday, shooting 71. He went 77 and 78 over the weekend, finishing at 305 and tied for 45th.

Eagles Pride boasts a narrow, 7,026 yard, par-71 layout. It has hosted two previous Washington State Men’s Amateur Championships, in 1983 and most recently in 1999. The 27-hole golf course features three nine-hole courses, labeled Red, Blue and Green, of which the Red and Blue courses were used for the championship. The original 18-hole course at Eagles Pride was designed by the Works Progress Administration in 1937, while the final nine holes were built in 1979. Eagles Pride Golf Course has been voted in the top 10 of military courses by Travel and Leisure magazine.
