I don’t know how many of the readers of our paper have heard about this question, that was posed on line a short time ago but the answers to this question are very telling about the state of our society.

The question was put to women, “If you were lost in the forest would you rather meet up with a man or a bear?”

On the face of it the answer seems obvious, but surprisingly enough, seven out of eight women said they would rather be confronted with a bear than a man. That answer is not surprising when we are confronted with the fact that every nine seconds a woman is attacked by a man in our country, and more often than not, a man she knows.

I’m not sure of the statistics in other parts of the world but I would have my doubts they are much different. That is a very sad commentary on our society and if this were a disease we would be doing everything in our power to put a stop to it but we still live in a very patriarchal society and we have a very long way to go to achieve the equality for all that we should be striving for. Just sayin’.
