The body of an overdue skier was removed near Paradise on Mount Rainier earlier this month.
According to a Mount Rainier National Park press release, a search Karen Jackmin, 38, of University Place, started on May 19, a day after they set out to ski above the popular park destination.
Rangers on volunteers were unable to locate Jackmin as they searched on foot in and around the Nisqually drainage, but a helicopter was able to spot her the day the search started; she appeared to have fallen 200 feet to base of the Pebble Creek’s Moraine Falls.
However, due to dangerous conditions, there was too high of a risk for recovery teams to recover the body, so they had to wait for favorable weather.
Rangers recovered Jackmin on June 8, and a helicopter transported it to be evaluated by the Pierce County Medical Examiner.
