On June 25, rescue crews were dispatched to a rollover ATV accident with reports of a patient injured and located down a very steep incline. While crews were en route, the call was upgraded to a Zone 3 Rescue response due to the nature of injuries reported and the patient’s difficult-to-reach location.
Initial arriving fire crews, including paramedics from King County Medic One, hiked up above the patient’s location and then made their way down the embankment to reach and begin stabilizing him.
Zone 3 Rescue teams from Puget Sound Fire, Valley Regional Fire Authority, and South King Fire simultaneously, worked together to set up a rope system to package and lower the patient. The rescue was a success.
The patient was life flighted with Airlift Northwest, to Harborview Medical Center, in serious but stable condition.
