40-year Enumclaw resident, Robert Lee (Bob) Westlund was born in Nashwauk, MN to Lee Olaf and Anny Albertine Westlund, on November 12, 1931. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served as a Nuclear Specialist. While in the service he met and married his wife Jeanette (Jan) Williams. Together for 63 years, they had six children. He worked as a professional engineer and loved tinkering with mechanical and electronic equipment. He was a brilliant man with many interests and areas of expertise. He was awarded three U.S. patents and enjoyed playing the accordion for the family and at retirement facilities in Enumclaw and the Orting Washington Soldiers Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan, and son, Christopher Arthur. Surviving children are Michael Robert (wife, Debi), Nickie Lynn, Martin Lee (wife, Stephanie), John Leland and Laura Ann (husband, Steve Hugdahl), 19 grandchildren and 31 great- grandchildren, (the newest addition arriving merely hours after Bob’s passing), plus two on the way, three nephews and one niece. Bob and Jan’s legacy spans from coast to coast with most descendants residing in Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, California, and Washington.
He was a member of Local VFW Post #1949 who will be offering the tribute and bestowing military honors to both Bob and Jan at Tahoma National Cemetery.
