Virginia Dukowitz Wilson was born July 31, 1929, in Palmer, Washington, joining two sisters, Alice and Dorothy as the third daughter to Edythe and Peter Dukowitz. Virginia’s brother Robert was the last to join the family in 1932.
Virginia attended school in Enumclaw, graduating in 1947. She was chairman of the committee that planned the class reunion every five years. She enjoyed school and taking part as a leader in all school activities. Virginia was on the yearbook staff for four years and editor of Tiger Tales in her senior year.
Virginia belonged to the Rainbow for Girls and was Worthy Advisor in 1947. Roller skating at Redondo Beach and skiing weekends at the log cabin called “Sleepy Hollow” were highlights. The log cabin was built by William Gill at Deep Creek, Silver Springs and is still owned by the Gill-Orton family. Skiing was popular at Cayuse Pass, before Crystal was built.
After attending Western Washington College of Education, she left to become a dentist assistant and office manager for Dr. C.C. Ferguson, when he was drafted for the Korean War, she stayed on to work for Dr Ralph Reed.
Virginia met her future husband, S. Allen Wilson, from San Diego, California through friends. They were married January 31,1953, and celebrated their 63rd anniversary, Jan 31st, 2016. Her interests were art, reading and a partner in the Wilson Photography Studio, also, volunteering in any organization involving children, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She was with Camp Fire Girls for 25 years as a leader, assistant, public relations, town and District Chairman.
Virginia was President of the Foundation for Enumclaw for 10 years and a 2-year member of the Enumclaw Recreation Counsel. Also, bowled with the rec bowling team. Her enthusiasm was with the Camp Fire Girls Group. Virginia’s 12 girls completed their 10 years of attendance the same year that they graduated from High School, in 1974. Getting to know the leaders from Enumclaw and Valley Mountain District was very special to Virginia.
Vacations were spent traveling in their R.V. touring the United States. Also, visiting England, Scotland, Wales, Mexico and several trips to Hawaii. There were many weekends at the Washington beaches with friends and family. Virginia is survived by her sons, Chris Wilson and John Wilson, his partner Sandra Warren, daughter, Anne and husband Rob Byam, all of Enumclaw. Two stepsons, Les Wilson and wife Jane from Camano Island, Torrance Wilson and wife Gayle from Salem, Oregon. Also, eight grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 63 years, Seth Allen Wilson, Alice and brother-in-law, Ralph Gunderson, sister Dorothy and brother-in-law, Hans Christenson, brother, Bob Dukowitz and sister-in-law, Jean and Virginia’s parents, Edythe and Peter Dukowitz who lived in Enumclaw, arriving in 1923.
Honoring Virginia’s wishes there will be no service.
