The Enumclaw Plateau Farmer’s market is already having a gangbuster year.
EPMF manger Liz Clark shared the good news with the Enumclaw City Council during its July 22 meeting.
“We’re seeing very positive numbers this year, and other markets are seeing that same reflection, so farmers markets are back in a big way,” Clark said. “… We are growing, and there’s no signs of it stopping, as far as I can tell this year.”
Between June 1 and July 13, 2023 (week seven), the market saw a little more than 6,000 customers shop along First Street, with the largest single count being 957 people (which was also that year’s record).
This year, the total number of customers has reached 7,500 by week seven. The largest single count so far this year is 1,528 people at the market, with another two months to go to set another.
The number of vendors at the market this year has exceed every week previous in 2023; last year, there was between 18 and 25 vendors, depending on the day, by week seven. This year, it’s been between 36 and 47.
Most sales are also up.
In 2023, by this time, farmers and fresh produce vendors recorded about $34,300 in sales; that’s increased to just about $38,000 this year.
Artisan and crafters also appear to be doing well, with sales increasing from around $12,300 by this time last year to close to $20,000.
Food vendors are seeing the biggest difference — an increase from just over $7,700 by week seven last year to nearly $20,000 this year, though it should be noted that no food vendors were present during one week in 2023.
Food processor vendor sales appear to be holding steady, with both years hitting the $28,000 mark by week seven.
