Richard (Dick) Reardon Smith

Richard (Dick) Reardon Smith, 85, of Enumclaw,WA died peacefully on October 5, 2024. Dick was born in O’Neil, NebraskaMarch 18, 1939 to Robert and Rita Smith.
The family moved to Tacoma, WA, in 1944 where he attended St. Leo’s grade school and Bellarmine Prep HS (class of 1957).
He was a small business owner and started the Kent Super Vac & Sewing Store in the early 1970s and expanded to three more stores in Renton, South Center, and Seattle (Roosevelt) over the years. He also invested in real estate in the local area.
During his working and retired life, he was a part of many community organizations, including the Kent Lion’s club.
He semi-retired in Green Water, WA, at the base of Crystal Mountain where he built his own cabin. He and his wife later opened an antique store along the highway in Greenwater. In the following years, the couple moved to the big city of Enumclaw where he lived until his death.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, golfer, SeattleMariner fan and classic car buff. Two of his favorite cars included a 1964 Corvette and 1967 Riviera.
He traveled the greater US and Europe, played golf at St. Andrews, and attended the Kentucky Derby in 2018. He enjoyed taking his RV tomanymajor destinations in theWestern US.
Dick loved his family/community, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn of 52 years and children Jeff, Teresa, Trisha, Bob and Ed, 19 grand/great grandchildren, younger sister, AnneWade, and younger brother, Pat Smith.
A family memorial service will be held at Bellarmine High School in Tacoma,WA on November 16, 2024.
