Golfers qualify for tournament

Play began Tuesday and continues today, Wednesday, in Richland, Wash., at Horn Rapids Golf Course for the girls and Meadow Springs Country Club for the boys.

Livermore finished 11th at the May 17 spring state-qualifying tournament at Eagles Pride Golf Course at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He joins teammates Tyler Salsbury, the South Puget Sound League 3A Player of the Year, Jordan Beals and Jake Erickson, all who were part of the Hornets’ 2009 fifth-place state team.

Francis, who finished seventh at the spring state-qualifying tournament, and Wilkening, who placed 13th, join four Hornet teammates at state including SPSL 3A Player of the Year Kelly Sweeney.

Torey Schreiner, Caitlin Runland and Kaylee Salsbury also will tee-off at state.

The Lady Hornets, who were runner-up in 2007 and state champion in 2008, finished third in 2009.

After play at Eagles Pride, White River’s Rebecca Norris will serve as the third alternate to the state tournament.
