NO PROBLEM: Officers responded at about 7 a.m. May 4 to a Fell Street location where someone had discovered a suspicious bag. Officers checked inside the bag, found nothing of concern and threw it away.
WELFARE CHECK: Police were alerted the afternoon of May 4 to a distraught-lookin man standing along Stevenson Avenue. The man had just been released from jail and was said to be excited. He was waiting for a ride, which arrived as officers left the scene.
WRONG APARTMENT: A Chinook Avenue resident called police at 9 p.m. May 4 because an unknown man was banging on the door and attempting to use a key to gain entry. It turned out the suspect was intoxicated, lived nearby and was attempting to enter the wrong apartment. A friend arrived and helped get the man home.
MEDICATION TAKEN: Police responded May 3 to a Bondgard Avenue residents after learning prescription medication had been taken the day before. There were no suspects; police were told multiple people had access to the residence.
NEGLIGENT DRIVING: A traffic stop shortly after 3 a.m. May 2 resulted in a man charged with negligent driving. He had been warned about his erratic driving several times in the past.
DOG TROUBLES: A woman told police the morning of May 2 she was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of 244th Avenue Southeast and was bitten by one of three dogs running loose. An officer checked the area and could not locate the dogs but found two additional bite victims. All the incidents occurred in county jurisdiction so information was forwarded to the King County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
MINOR INTOXICATED: Responding to a suspicious vehicle at 7:41 a.m. May 1 in the vicinity of state Route 410 and Farman Road, police found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. Parents were contacted and the male juvenile was released to them.
THREE CHARGES: A traffic stop the afternoon of May 1 at 244th Avenue Southeast and state Route 164 resulted in the driver charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. The vehicle was impounded.
TRAFFIC HAZARD: Police responded just after 2 a.m. April 30 to a report of large rocks in the road near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Farman Street. An officer contacted a motorist who had hit one of the rocks, stopped and removed them from the roadway. The motorist had no vehicle damage.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: A report was taken the morning of April 30 regarding a large rock that had been thrown through a window at a Dickson Avenue address. Damage was estimated at $500. Police checked the interior and nothing appeared missing. There were no immediate suspects.
A similar incident was reported at a Farman Street address. Also, a stained-glass window was broken at a Warner Avenue address, but there was no mention of how it was shattered.
SUSPICIOUS EVENTS: Police were told April 30 of suspected drug activity at a Garfield Street home, including frequent, short-term traffic. The reporting party had confronted the homeowner last summer. A plastic bag was found in the yard with white, powder residue and cash. Police checked the area and noticed several vehicles that did not belong to neighborhood residents.
RESISTING: City police officers assisted Kent police April 30 with an arrest at an Elmont Avenue address. A suspect was taken into custody, charged with resisting arrest and released to Kent authorities.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Officers responded April 29 to a Chinook Avenue address after hearing of a residential burglary. While on the scene, it was determined a theft from the victim’s vehicle had also occurred. A report was taken.
