Daytona 500 not kind to Kahne

After running up front most of the day, Enumclaw NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kasey Kahne finished 30th in Sunday’s Daytona 500.

“I hate it for the Budweiser team,” the No. 9 Ford Fusion driver said. “We ran up front most of the day, but got shuffled back. It was all about getting in the right line out there today, and it just didn’t work out at the end. It’s just disappointing that our day ended with a wrecked car.”

Kahne, who started fourth after winning Thursday’s second Gatorade Duel race, lasted through two race delays and a series of restarts toward the end of the race, but with just laps to go got bumped from behind, ending his day.

Racing continues Saturday from California. Television coverage begins locally at 1 p.m.
