Perserverance was the buzz word at Collins High School commencement exercises Friday night as about 30 graduates walked across the White River High School auditorium stage to receive their diplomas.
It was a sweep for White River High at the annual FFA state convention May 13-18 at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. White River FFA adviser Amy Miller was named the District 2 Outstanding Agriculture Teacher of the Year and White River High Principal Mike Hagadone was chosen Outstanding Administrator of the Year. The WRHS FFA chapter received the Outstanding Agricultural Program of the Year award and chapter member Victoria Marsh landed a coveted spot as a state officer for the 2009-10 school year.
More than 120 alumni showed up at the third annual Black Diamond School reunion June 3 at the Black Diamond Community Center including 102-year-old Ruby Favro Androsko Keeney, a 1926 Black Diamond High School graduate.

Led by the 15th-place finishes of Jake Erickson and Tyler Salsbury, the Enumclaw High boys golf team finished fifth at the Class 3A state golf tournament at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Wash. The Enumclaw High girls, who played at Horn Rapids Golf Course, finished fourth with 54 points.
