Pierce County battled it out with Kitsap County to see which could reduce energy use the most in May. The runway at Tacoma Narrows Airport in Gig Harbor reopened June 16 following a 45-day rehabilitation. Crews reduced the width of the runway, added new signage, and repaved the runway, among other improvements.
