With the Sumner High School pool expected to close in the next year, the district held a community meeting last week to address the concerns of students, parents and community members who are worried about the district’s two swim teams.

The Open Public Meeting Act lawsuit against the city of Black Diamond has started moving forward with a ruling from King County Superior Court Judge Janet Helson on Friday, Feb. 3 granting a motion to allow the city to hire Shannon Ragonesi of the Seattle-based Keating, Bucklin & McCormack firm for legal services.
The bond, which would go toward renovating both elementary schools and the middle school, as well as pay the district’s share of remodeling the Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools, comes with a property tax rate increase of $0.23 per $1,000 in assessed value.
