Photography isn’t the easiest (or cheapest) hobby to get into, but Buckley resident Jeni Dieringer is already becoming a regular shutterbug. The local bodybuilder started taking up photography when her mother bought her a camera for her last birthday.

After serving Bonney Lake for more than a decade and being involved in public works for more than 40 years, Bonney Lake’s Public Works Director Daniel Grigsby is bowing out and welcoming retirement. “As I wrap things up and think about what’s happened over the past 12 years, the city has accomplished a lot from a Public Works perspective,” Grigsby said. “That’s always something to feel good about, when you leave a job knowing you’ve left it in better condition than you received it in.”

The meeting was long and debate was heated, but the June 16 Black Diamond City Council resembled a working city government for the first time since the beginning of the year. Council members and the mayor appeared to have set aside many of the arguments they’ve had over the past six months in order to pass nearly all of the unfinished business items that has been on the last several meeting agendas to the applause of residents.

With Independence Day just around the corner, the Bonney Lake Police Department is checking in with residents to make sure they understand the new rules surrounding fireworks.

Lots of Buckley fire department news this week! The department received a new award created by the WSFFA to honor Buckley’s commitment to volunteer firefighters, and the Buckley fire academy turned out 29 firefighters to work around the state. And the White River High School had their graduation! Congrats, class of 2016! Finally, a Plateau high schooler is in need of a kidney before she goes off to college, because a rare genetic disorder is causing hers to slowly shut down.
