With construction starting on a new sewer lift station in Bonney Lake, the City Council is planning on property owners in the Midtown area reimbursing the city for the cost of the project over the next two decades.

Maddie Lea was supposed to have decades before she needed a kidney transplant, if she needed one at all. But now her failing kidneys are posing a risk to both the Bonney Lake High School senior’s health and the opportunity to attend her dream college, Pacific Lutheran University, in the fall.
Black Diamond had another busy week as its council rules were found to be illegal by the city’s interim attorney. There are also talks of improving the Foothills Trail – dirt sections between Buckley and South Prairie are to be paved by next year. Buckley resident Kyle Frawley, 32, has been traveling nearly non-stop since his first overseas flight to London in 2005. In the last 11 years, he estimates he’s seen half of what the planet has to offer, having set foot in 101 countries and traveled to all seven wonders of the world. And for the most part, he’s been able to use frequent flier miles to cover the vast majority of his flights.

East Pierce firefighters and volunteers from the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be out in force this weekend raising money to help out families in the Bonney Lake, Sumner, Milton, Edgewood and Lake Tapps areas who are affected by muscular dystrophy.

Tapps Island is revitalizing the decades-old traditional firework show over Lake Tapps on the Fourth of July. The show has been a mainstay for the Bonney Lake community since the 1970s, but Tapps Island General Manager John Clark said funding for the show has flatlined for the last 10 years and he is worried about the show’s continued existence.
