Bonney Lake is packing up the pump. Last Thursday, the city ended the month-long process of pumping water off several streets that started flooding last winter.
It took only two meetings for the Black Diamond City Council to revise its rules and procedures, giving metaphorical whiplash to staff and city residents as they wrestled with the council’s new structure.
Yesterday, Lake Tapps reached a level of 541.69 feet. Cascade Water Alliance is currently allowing the reservoir to raise slowly with normal weather conditions and anticipate achieving a level of 542 feet by April 15 (recreational levels are 541.5 to 543 feet).

East Pierce Fire & Rescue is giving its district residents on the outskirts a chance to learn more about the department. On Saturday, March 26, the department will be hosting an open house at the Prairie Ridge fire station from 9 a.m. to noon. A second open house will be hosted April 2 at the Foothills station, also from 9 a.m. to noon.
A house on Tacoma Point Drive near Lake Tapps has been severely damage after a fire started yesterday, March 17. A neighbor called East Pierce Fire and Rescue at 4:15 p.m., and crews arrived to the house that was already halfway engulfed in flames.
The Panther tennis players are ready to start swinging, if the weather gives them a chance this early in the season. Bonney Lake did not see a single victory last year, ending the season with a 0-14 record. The Panthers plan to change that this year.
