The Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Cathy Rigg and Kim Peterson for their many years of service to the chamber and the community. With Cathy’s leadership and Kim’s organizational skills the chamber has grown. We wish them great success and happiness in their new endeavors.

We expect to have a very productive 2010 and beyond. Resumes have poured in and we are extremely happy and amazed at the quality of the applicants. Announcements on our new staff will be coming soon.

We will be working with the city to prepare for Creation Fest this summer as we are expecting thousands of visitors to the city. Our focus will be to do everything we can to help the business community prosper during this event. We would welcome volunteers to help the chamber prepare and/or work with us during those days. In addition to keeping the kiosk stocked with information we will continue to be a presence at all Expo Center events. Partnering with the city and other civic and business organizations still remains a priority.

You can help us. The chamber is looking for businesses out of the area that would like to expand or relocate. We are concentrating on bringing in business types we don’t currently have in town. Should you have a favorite destination or know of a business that you would like to see come to our area please contact the chamber office. Think about manufacturing, retail, food and service organizations. We will work with the city to bring the-m to town and help them with a smooth transition to our area.

Members and nonmembers are invited to our monthly networking breakfast and our “business after hours” events. As soon as we hire our new executive director we will be preparing alerts to our e-mail database of special discounts, coupons, deals and upcoming events in town and at the Expo Center. If you would like to join our database please e-mail or call the chamber office. Of course, you can opt out of our e-mail newsletter at any time. The visitor center in the chamber office is hard at work helping our visitors and tourists. We are collecting as many e-mail addresses from these visitors and tourists as we can with the hope of bringing them back to town on a more regular basis.

Although saddened by our recent resignations, the board of directors is very excited about the changes coming to your chamber of commerce. The quality of the resumés bolsters our conviction that we will find just the right person to partner with the board and our members. We are working to do whatever we can to help our business community in these difficult financial times. If you have an idea just let us know. We are open to any and all suggestions. Stay tuned.
