“I am going to return this place to its old glory, because running my own restaurant has always been my life’s ambition,” said 22-year-old entrepreneur Tim Whitehouse. “I’ve done nothing but save money all my life for a chance like this and I don’t like to fail.”

Whitehouse views his enterprise as one with a clean slate and limitless potential. The practice of offering diners a one-page menu is ancient history, he said.

“I am running this place now, so I intend to grant myself three wishes,” Whitehouse said. His first goal was to settle up with the employees “who were sort of left in the lurch by the former management,” he said. “I can’t run this place by myself and I figure if I take care of my people, they are going to feel an obligation to take care of this place,” he said.

A second objective is to bring back the salad bar back and a third item is to install a suggestion box, so visitors can comment on how he can make the place more inviting.

LumberJack’s business hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 360-889-0412.
