Take-out fare with European flair

It’s said that good things come in small packages and that may be the case at Europa, a tiny, new take-out eatery on the corner of Porter Street and McHugh Avenue in Enumclaw.

It’s said that good things come in small packages and that may be the case at Europa, a tiny, new take-out eatery on the corner of Porter Street and McHugh Avenue in Enumclaw.

If customers miss Europa on first glance, they need only to look at the small addition on the south side of the Chevron station.

Owners Grzegorz (Greg) and Maria Goch, both of whom were born in Poland, prepare a plethora of traditional European dishes, including latkes (potato pancakes), frikadelle (ground cutlet topped with marinated mushrooms, onions and cheese), goulash, cabbage soup and cabbage rolls.

Greg Goch was classically trained to be a resort chef on the shores of the Baltic Sea at the Technical College of Gastronomy. He went on to become a seasoned journeyman chef, cooking in Spain, Germany, France and Denmark.

If Europa is building a fan base, the reason may be the care that goes into each offering.

“We come in very early in the morning and prepare everything from scratch, using no preservatives,” Maria Goch said.

Europa’s menu is take-out only, offered 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The address is 1547 McHugh Ave. and Europa can be reached by calling 360-516-3038.
