Board thanks Enumclaw community

Thank you, Enumclaw School District voters.

On behalf of 4,200 students and 537 staff, your Enumclaw School Board members wish to express gratitude for support of the district’s four-year replacement levy on the ballot Feb. 9th. This local tax obligation which makes up roughly 20 percent of our operating budget has become increasingly important given the current state budget cuts. To know we have that piece of our annual budget secured for the next four years is a huge sigh of relief, and we are deeply appreciative. You have our promise to work hard to be good stewards.

We are also grateful for the nearly 36 percent voter turnout given the all mail-in ballot. As of Thursday, February 11, only two other districts of 16 in King County had higher voter turnouts, Mercer Island and Vashon. Some districts were below 30 percent turnout. We are proud Enumclaw School District Votes!

Further, we want to especially thank the Levy Chairs, Suzanne Lewis, Enumclaw, and Tina McGann, Black Diamond, the many volunteers, door-knockers, sign-wavers, and donors to the 4rKids campaign, for all the hard work getting the word out to voters.

On behalf of kids,

Nancy Merrill
