In a culture of business greed and political expediency, it is a breath of fresh air (more like a paroxysm) to witness one of our Enumclaw residents place the benefit of others above his own bank account balance and public hurrahs.
When Carl Sanders, owner of Sanders Construction, heard about a grant project to renovate the community football field at the old Pete’s Pool location (yup, we still use that name around here), he passionately got involved. Thinking of the youth, including his sons, enjoying a new football field, he put up a substantial amount of money, loaned his construction equipment, and personally labored for countless days on the project. This past Father’s Day, while Carl’s family was vacationing in Mexico, Carl stayed behind to work on the football field.
I am honored to know Carl Sanders, and I am heartened to know that we still have people like Carl who roll up their sleeves and get to work when they see a need. This humble man wasn’t seeking accolades – he just wanted to help our youth.
I wish we could name the football field the “Carl Sanders Field.”
Sincerely,
Paul Fast
