Thank you for running the story about Mail Express being fined for not enforcing the mask mandate on the front page of the October 14, 2020 edition, for all to plainly see (“Local business fined by L&I for failing to wear, enforce masks”). I would actually be interested in seeing a list of any and all businesses that have received warnings, let alone fines. I was glad to see that the state is putting as much bite as bark in their enforcement of the mandate. And I was glad it was a hefty fine. After several warnings, I do not feel a lesser fine, on appeal, would be appropriate. I hope this original fine is upheld.
It is so uncaring, unkind and dangerous to allow customers and employees to put their lives at danger, just to try to defy such an easy rule. I feel so sorry for the employees who had to work in that environment, risking their health each and every day. No one, either employees or customers, should never be subjected to the risk of getting a deadly illness, or carrying it home to those more vulnerable. I have frequented this business a lot in the past, though they actually charge more than the post office to ship packages.
At this point, it is my intent to support the U.S. Postal Service, rather than Mail Express. I will never put foot in this business again.
