Letter to the Editor: Conservative Christians are “in name only”

Former columnist John Locatelli says there are many “false prophets” in the conservative evangelical movement.

Your latest article on why “Conservative Christians” (“A contradiction between soncervative Christians and the Bible, published March 20) do not treat immigrants as the Bible instructs is close to my thinking. It could have been written by me.

The conservative Christians I know are also conservative in all their thinking which makes me believe that they are really “CINOS” or Christians in Name Only. After all, Jesus said there will be many false prophets invoking his name. But, it should be easy to tell the false from the real from what they preach. Those conservative Christians are certainly false prophets. Just to add to your economic impact analysis, the strong recovery of our economy from the pandemic is thought to be fueled by immigrants taking entry-level jobs not being filled by citizens. They are not only false prophets, but ignorant ones also.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t get much feedback — I didn’t get any on what I thought were controversial subjects when I wrote them for the paper.
