I am writing to express my strong support for the upcoming Enumclaw School District Capital Levy, and to encourage you to join me in voting YES.
Our schools are the heart of our community. They are where our children grow, learn, and prepare to lead the future. In order to provide students with a healthy and safe learning environment we must invest in the facilities that support their learning.
The capital levy on the ballot this year is not about luxuries or “nice to have projects”. It is about essential / critical repairs that directly impact the health and safety of our students. These repairs target upgrading outdated heating and cooling systems, repairing roofs that continually leak and replacing electrical panels that fail regularly. This levy does not address all of the district’s infrastructure needs, but it does tackle the most critical ones.
Unlike bonds, capital levies are a short-term, local solution that allows us to address immediate infrastructure needs without taking on long-term debt. Early in 2024, the school board commissioned a group of 20 community members (FOCUS Committee) to review the capital facility needs of the district. In November 2024, the FOCUS committee’s No. 1 recommendation to the board was to put a capital levy on the ballot in April of 2025 to address the critical health and safety needs of our aging facilities. Please know that every dollar raised will stay in our district, directly benefiting the students and schools in our neighborhoods.
Those in the community that know me, are aware that I believe in the following: focus on the continuous improvements in student achievement, supporting the parental bill of rights in K12 education, fighting to keep biological men out of women and girls sports and to be vigilant and responsible in spending our tax dollars. This capital levy is a smart, responsible investment in the repair of our aging facilities and to ensure the health and safety of our students.
Please join me in voting YES for the 2025 Capital Levy. Let’s continue to stand behind our students and support the schools that serve us all.
