Letter to the Editor: Trump, Vance are DEI (didn’t earn it)

Reader Stanley McKie argues the former president and his proposed vice have had everything handed to them.

Who is Buss to lecture readers on how to vote in an election (“Trump is the real reader we need,” published Aug. 7). I am not finding his name on any newspaper editorial boards. The content of Buss’ letter suggests a motivated ignorance, is presumptuous and reeks of arrogance.

It was a 20-year old Republican cipher living in a house full of guns who missed shooting Trump. Too bad the children in Columbine, Uvalde, Parkland and Sandy Hook among other victims of other mass shootings weren’t as lucky.

The BLM protesters were not the ones who stormed the U.S. Capitol. If Buss was serious about Antifa and BLM being threats he would be advocating for banning military weapons that are senselessly used to kill innocent people and he would also advocate for trigger-happy cops to stop shooting and killing unarmed Black women in their kitchens.

How come Buss and the MAGA cult refuse to question Trump’s and Vance’s lack of qualifications for jobs they didn’t earn (DEI)? Double standards?

Buss will have you believe that Harris isn’t qualified; and Trump is?

Harris graduated from college and law school, passed a state bar exam and has now held four elected positions including U. S. Senator and Vice-President.

What has Trump accomplished? There is a lot of pathology and criminal behavior in Trump’s biography. Trump had his school records sealed because he doesn’t want the gullible to know that he didn’t graduate from college. He dodged the military draft. He inherited his father’s corrupt company (how easy was that?) and has been a white-collar criminal ever since. He is a convicted felon. He duped and cheated students who enrolled in his sham university. He is a known and adjudicated rapist and sexual predator. He has trafficked in racism to his advantage, employed undocumented immigrants at his golf resorts (Google it), has chalked up numerous bankruptcies while stiffing construction contractors, has avoided paying taxes, he stole the 2016 presidential election from Hillary (too bad for the country she didn’t win), ignored the pandemic and natural disasters while in office, he has been impeached twice, attempted election fraud, orchestrated an insurrection and already has gone down as one of the worst presidents in American history.

JD Vance’s applications to Ohio State University and especially to Yale Law School received special considerations (Affirmative Action) because he had a unique successful background that typically appeals to many admissions committees: Vance is from Appalachia (applicants from there are underrepresented at Yale), mother is a twice divorced drug addict (hardship), he was raised by his grandparents (homeless) and he is a veteran. After struggling in law school, Vance bounced around and eventually landed at several different venture capitalist jobs where “he didn’t work much.” How did he qualify to work for these venture capitalist companies? Billionaire Peter Thiel made phone calls to CEOs and had employment doors opened on Vance’s behalf. Vance took advantage of preferential treatment and nepotism. Vance too, didn’t earn it (DEI).
