Good schools make good communities and enrich property values. Good schools need to be maintained and up to date to support the teachers, students and the education process.
My parents taught me the importance of living in an excellent school district. As a result, my sons received a good education. When I needed to move, selling my home because of superior schools.
I’m retired with two grands headed to elementary school in ESD, so I’m concerned about the school district.
Enumclaw School District is asking for additional funds to provide maintenance and upgrades to keep outdated schools working for the teachers. This request is reasonable and much needed to keep aging facilities working for our students and teachers.
ESD does not receive adequate funding from the state to maintain our facilities. Our present levies are designated for education and special programs. This proposed Capital Levy is needed to keep our aging facilities working for the students.
Our most valuable asset as a community is our children. The proposal by ESD is fiscally responsible and I recommend approving the levy on April 22.
