Normally I do not get involved with local politics, but the numerous articles, letters and comments appearing in The Courier-Herald led me to wonder what was going on with our fire district.
Please indulge me as I try to address several closely related items of local, state and ational interest as briefly and simply as possible.
The Enumclaw Middle School FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club had an amazing experience with the Enumclaw Special Oly-mpics on Thursday, Feb. 2. We wanted to help out at this event because of inspiration from Rachel’s Challenge.
In case you missed it, the citizens of Enumclaw agreed to pay more for fire and emergency services without even being told about it. We were paying 89 cents per $1,000 and now we are paying $1.09 per $1,000.
I was stunned when I read Sen. Pam Roach’s column related to gay marriage (Courier-Herald, Feb. 1). How could a state senator sit through the many hours of testimony and have so little knowledge about pending legislation?
I would like to thank all the men and women in the Enumclaw Fire Department for all the great work that they do, for just being there for us.
My husband, son and I recycle everything possible and sorting this and that here and there is just not fun. Nor is it fun to load it all into our three-horse trailer and haul it to the transfer station and again sort it here, there and then the boxes. So why do we do it?
I recently learned that recycling options at the Enumclaw transfer station will be eliminated on Feb. 1, 2012. I understand that this is a cost-cutting measure, but I really do not understand it fully.
We would like to express our appreciation for some very special members of our community and their wonderful efforts to comfort those in need during this recent winter storm.
After attending the Fire District 28 monthly meeting on Jan. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m., I have a few things to report. First I would like to thank the fire chief and the fire commissioners for allowing some Q&A that lasted over one hour.
Recently I wrote a letter in opposition to the April fire district levy. I got a strongly negative response from one of the fire commissioners who questioned my motives for writing a letter to the editor. (My motive was to serve the public by giving them information they didn’t have.)
The end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 brought startling news to our household through the local Courier-Herald newspaper.
I’d like to thank the person or persons that decided that recycling bins were no longer needed at the dump. This will make my mob much easier.
